About Rapid City
Rapid city is the second most populous city in south dakota and the county seat of pennington county. Named after rapid creek, on which the city is established, it is set against the eastern slope of the black hills mountain range. The population was 67,956 as of the 2010 census. The racial makeup of the city was 80.4% white, 1.1% african american, 12.4% native american, 1.0% asian, 0.1% pacific islander, 0.7% from other races, and 4.1% from two or more races. Hispanic or latino of any race were 4.1% of the population.
